Captain Alfred Robichaud joined the Acushnet
Fire / Rescue Department as a call member in 1974. He
was hired as a fulltime firefighter in 1988.
Firefighter Robichaud is certified in Hazardous
Materials to the Operations Level as well as
certified to lead the department through Critical
Incident Stress Management issues. As a former
police officer, Captain Robichaud has received
training in--and plays a lead role in
conducting--fire investigations for the department.
He has participated in numerous training activities
sponsored by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
Capt. Robichaud is the
President of the Acushnet Permanent Firefighters
Association (Local 3281) and is currently pursuing his
Bachelors Degree in Fire Science.
In May 2007, Alfred Robichaud was promoted to the rank of
Captain following a competitive civil service
promotional examination. His new responsibilities
include acting as the department's "Safety Officer" at
incidents and training evolutions as well as safety
related administrative duties.
