Lieutenant David Makuch became a call fire firefighter with the department in 1977 and was promoted Call Lieutenant in 1994.  Lt. Makuch is certified in Hazardous Materials to the Operations Level and in Emergency Vehicle Operations to the Advanced Level.  He has received specific training in emergency spill response offered by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.  Lt. Makuch is assigned to Company 2 / Station 2 and the Rescue Squad.  Station 2 houses both the department’s 1,800-gallon water tanker as well as Engine 4, which is equipped with a 750-gallon water tank.  All members of Station 2, most importantly the officers, are well trained in the delivery of water from sources other than fire hydrants due to the lack of hydrants in most portions of the north end of Acushnet.
