Firefighter Joseph Knox became a member of the Acushnet Fire / Rescue Department in July 2002.  Firefighter Knox is certified as a Firefighter Level I/II, Hazardous Materials to the Operations Level, and Emergency Vehicle Operations to the Advanced Level.  Firefighter Knox is a certified Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician - Basic and in 2005 was licensed as a Registered Nurse.  Firefighter Knox  worked for many years as an EMT responding to 911 calls in Dartmouth and now works in the Emergency Department of a local hospital.  Joe is a member of the department's Rescue Squad, is assigned to Company 2 / Station 1 and is authorized to fill shifts not worked by the fulltime members.  Firefighter Knox is the son of Deputy Chief James Knox and has an uncle also serving on the department.
