Career Firefighter Eric Arruda is the newest fulltime member of the department.  First hired as a Call Firefighter in 2003, Eric was hired through Civil Service first as a temporary fulltime firefighter and then a permanent firefighter in 2005.  Firefighter Arruda has also served the residents of Acushnet as a member of the Acushnet Emergency Medical Service as an EMT-Basic.  Eric has completed a Paramedic training program and is presently waiting testing by the state.  Certified as a Firefighter I/II, Firefighter Arruda is a graduate of the Acushnet public schools and New Bedford High School.  Firefighter Arruda is a skilled carpenter.
